Kennedy Center: How Music Helped Me Escape from Prison

We are pleased to announce that the Prison Art Gallery, in conjunction with its parent organization the Prisons Foundation, will be presenting a three-hour show at the Kennedy Center. The show, entitled "How Music Helped Me Escape from Prison," consists of singers and musicians who put their interest in music to productive ends while behind bars. Everyone is invited to attend this free event.

Public Rally: UNWANTED, The Drug War & its Warriors

Join us for this public rally calling for an end to the war on drugs, removal of the United States' DEA agents from Canada, and humane alternatives to prohibition. Quietly over the past decade the US Consulate in Vancouver has developed its own law enforcement hub. It began in 1996 with the arrival of agents from the ATF and Secret Service. In the past six years, others have joined them from Homeland Security, Diplomatic Security, the DEA, and FBI. One of the purposes of this US Law Enforcement Working Group is to work with Canadian enforcement personnel in fighting the war on drugs, and their presence significantly influences the theory and practice of Canada's current and future drug strategies. This quiet infiltration must be exposed and challenged.

Alabama Townhall meeting on Discriminatory Federal Drug Sentencing

The ACLU Washington Legislative Office and the ACLU of Alabama will host a townhall meeting in Birmingham, Alabama on the need to repair the current discriminatory federal drug sentencing policy. The event is open to the press, and ACLU speakers will be available afterwards for interviews.
