Radio Event: Drug War and Homicides -- Friday Night 1/5/07 10:00pm

On Friday, January 5 at 10:00 pm (Eastern) Rob Ryan, Bill Gallagher and Peter Christ will be on The Scott Sloan Show on Cincinnati's WLW 700 AM. We will be discussing the War on Drugs impact in Cincinnati and beyond, especially focusing on the record number of homicides last year and the role of the the new marijuana ordinance that made marijuana possession an arrestable offense in Cincinnati. Note under Ohio state law the same amounts are a minor misdemeanor ticket.

Oregon NORML Associate Director and Webmaster Wins National Air America Progressive Talk Radio New Host Star Search Contest

Oregon NORML is proud to announce that our own Associate Director and Webmaster, Radical Russ Belville has competed in the finals in Washington, DC for the National Air America Progressive Talk Radio New Host Star Search contest and WON! This means that he will be hosting his own two-hour progressive talk radio show for Clear Channel and Jones Radio Network. He will be on nationwide (don't know how many stations, but certainly on Portland KPOJ and probably their website online) probably around late March or April.

DRCNet Proudly Among Road to Vienna 2008 Conference Attendees to Issue a Declaration

On the final day of The Road to Vienna 2008 conference at the European Parliament in Brussels, a declaration was issued that will be sent to media and Members of European Parliament. Signers of the declaration include Members of the European Parliament from two political groups (GUE/NGL and GREENS) and representatives of more than 50 NGO´s, as well as local and regional authorities from around Europe and beyond.

Medical Marijuana Patients Arrested at DEA Convention in San Diego 7 Arrested, 1 Cited for Demanding to Speak with Federal Agency Chief

SAN DIEGO-Medical marijuana patients demanding to speak with the head of the federal Drug Enforcement Agency were arrested in San Diego shortly after noon today for refusing to leave the site of an agency convention. The seven patients arrested and one cited were among the sixty patients and activists protesting at the Marriott San Diego Mission Valley, where the DEA is holding a meeting to discuss medical marijuana.
