Just Say Know: What You Should Know About Federally-Funded Youth Drug Prevention Programs

The federal government continues to spend hundreds of millions of dollars per year on drug prevention programs that make little if any impact on youth drug use. Programs such as D.A.R.E., the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign and Random Student Drug Testing stand in sharp contrast to the successful anti-smoking “Truth” campaign, which generally follows the rules of good social marketing. This discussion will explore why federally-funded youth drug prevention programs fail and offer pragmatic alternatives that Congress should consider.

Sensible Colorado is joining forces with national experts from the Midnight Special Law Collective to present an interactive role-playing presentation that teaches citizens how to survive common police encounters.

National African American Drug Policy Coalition Third Annual Summit

This year, the theme is "Substance Abuse among Vulnerable Populations: Enhancing Treatment, Eliminating Disparities, and Promoting Justice." The summit will focus on health and criminal justice issues among vulnerable populations within the African American community. Special workshops will focus on adolescents, women, and the reentry population. The summit will convene key leaders from our member organizations and other experts that span across a variety of disciplines.

ABA Spring Conference: Overcoming Legal Barriers to Reentry

This conference will bring together policy-makers, government officials, business leaders, and community advocacy groups from across the country to explore ways in which they can together encourage successful offender reentry within their respective jurisdictions.
