Job Opportunity: Drug Overdose Prevention and Education (DOPE) Project Manager at The Harm Reduction Coalition

The Harm Reduction Coalition (HRC), a progressive advocacy and training organization at the forefront of national health and drug policy, is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to coordinate and supervise all aspects of the DOPE Project in its Oakland, CA office. This includes grant writing; budgeting; hiring, training and supervision of Overdose Educators; coordinating and conducting trainings; establishing and maintaining relationships with community based collaborators; engaging in policy advocacy, strategic planning and evaluation activities; and other duties as needed.

Job Opportunity: An Opening at OSI’s Public Health Program

OSI seeks a full-time Program Officer in its New York office to assist with PHP’s Health Media Project. This cross-cutting project aims to improve the capacity of public health NGOs to utilize media and to communicate effectively with the public and policy makers, and to facilitate the ability of media to raise awareness about marginalized populations and stigmatized issues. These issues include harm reduction, Roma health, palliative care, sexual health and rights, and human rights and health.

Two Job Opportunities at Washington,DC-Based PreventionWorks

PreventionWorks, a needle exchange/harm reduction program operating in the District of Columbia, has recently applied for funding for a new program they are calling FOCUS. This will be an HIV treatment adherence support program for low-income residents of the District of Columbia who are current or former drug users, are in care for HIV infection, and struggling to focus on their HIV care and/or treatment regimen. Though funding has not been secured, the recruiting of strong candidates -- people with solid backgrounds in HIV and substance use, and who know District resources -- to staff the program has begun.

Job Listing: Harm Reduction Coalition (HRC) Offering Syringe Exchange Program Specialist Position

The Syringe Exchange Program Specialist will be responsive to the technical assistance and training needs of California Syringe Exchange Programs and Local Health Jurisdictions. Candidates must possess organizational skills, training and technical assistance expertise and hands on experience with community-based syringe access. Experience with community organizing and familiarity with local service providers and communities preferred. The salary range is $43,000-$46,000 per year.

Job Listings: Two Positions Available at The Marijuana Policy Project

The Marijuana Policy Project has two new jobs available: 1) IT Director (Washington, D.C.) The IT Director manages a four-person IT department, which oversees all of MPP’s networking infrastructure, Web development, and data management. MPP is a heavily Apple-based organization, so extensive experience with Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server is essential. Candidates should be comfortable working in both the graphical user environment and at the command line level, as well as generally familiar with and comfortable using UNIX or Linux and Microsoft Windows XP. Experience managing Linux/UNIX servers and/or experience with Windows-based networking is a plus. The position also requires an ease with juggling multiple projects simultaneously and quickly, the ability to translate technical issues into plain English for non-technical staff, and a proven track record of successful project management in a deadline-driven environment.

Job Listings: Two Positions Available at The Urban Health Program at RTI International

The Urban Health Program at RTI International seeks to fill 2 positions on a three-year, community-based study of women who use methamphetamine in San Francisco. The study focuses on sexual risk and includes testing and counseling for HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Work will be conducted at community field sites and the RTI office in downtown San Francisco. The Interviewer position is 60% time and the Senior Interviewer position is 80% time. Two MPP Job Openings

The Marijuana Policy Project has two jobs currently available: 1. Nevada State Director (based in Nevada) The Nevada State Director will maintain the momentum MPP has built over the last five years in Nevada, continuing to build MPP’s grassroots and institutional support, with the ultimate goal of passing a ballot initiative to tax and regulate marijuana in Nevada in November 2010. He or she will focus on coalition-building, grassroots organizing, and media outreach, as well as possibly lobbying on occasion.
