Press Release: Trekt Uw Plant Is Not a Criminal Organisation

PRESS RELEASE TREKT UW PLANT 25 APRIL 2007 TREKT UW PLANT IS NOT A CRIMINAL ORGANISATION 'De facto' acquittance in trial against association of cannabis producers in Belgium 25 april 2007 Today the local court of Antwerpen, Belgium (Correctionele Rechtbank) issued a verdict in the case against Trekt Uw Plant vzw. This association has the intention of organising the cultivation of cannabis, meant for the personal consumption of her adult members, in a collective way. Trekt Uw Plant bases itself on the the Royal Decree of 2003 and the Ministerial Guideline of January 2005, signed by the Belgian Minister of Justice and all 5 General Prosectors. According to this guideline the possession of max. 3 grammes cannabis en 1 cannabisplant by adults will not be prosecuted anymore, if there are no aggravating circumstances.

Hour of Judgement for Trekt Uw Plant

On Wednesday April 25, at 9 AM, the local court of Antwerpen will issue a verdict in the trial against trhe association of cannabis producers Trekt Uw Plant . This verdict will be of great importance for the debate on cannabis legislation in Belgium. After the verdict there will be a short press conference on the stairs of the Palace of Justice at the Bolivarplaats.

Job Listings: Two Positions Available at The Marijuana Policy Project

The Marijuana Policy Project has two new jobs available: 1) IT Director (Washington, D.C.) The IT Director manages a four-person IT department, which oversees all of MPP’s networking infrastructure, Web development, and data management. MPP is a heavily Apple-based organization, so extensive experience with Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server is essential. Candidates should be comfortable working in both the graphical user environment and at the command line level, as well as generally familiar with and comfortable using UNIX or Linux and Microsoft Windows XP. Experience managing Linux/UNIX servers and/or experience with Windows-based networking is a plus. The position also requires an ease with juggling multiple projects simultaneously and quickly, the ability to translate technical issues into plain English for non-technical staff, and a proven track record of successful project management in a deadline-driven environment.

Two MPP Job Openings

The Marijuana Policy Project has two jobs currently available: 1. Nevada State Director (based in Nevada) The Nevada State Director will maintain the momentum MPP has built over the last five years in Nevada, continuing to build MPP’s grassroots and institutional support, with the ultimate goal of passing a ballot initiative to tax and regulate marijuana in Nevada in November 2010. He or she will focus on coalition-building, grassroots organizing, and media outreach, as well as possibly lobbying on occasion. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, an understanding of politics and public policy, and experience working with reporters and doing media interviews.
