According to a recent news item making international headlines, a journalist in a forthcoming BBC 'documentary' will "inject" herself with the "main ingredient" of so-called "skunk cannabis" in an effort to warn viewers of the "dramatic" and "unpleasant" effects of marijuana. And so, we're reminded yet again that there is simply no level of absurdity to which the purveyors of anti-marijuana hysteria will not stoop. It shouldn't be at all necessary to explain that no one shoots THC straight into their veins. So when we find this intrepid "journalist" rolling around on the floor soiling herself or whatever, let's just keep in mind that it won't happen again unless this ridiculous stunt somehow catches on. And if that happens, it will be BBC's fault, not marijuana's.
Of course, while this preposterous exercise will teach us nothing about the effects of recreational marijuana use, it does illustrate two important points worth considering:
1. Marijuana is sufficiently mild in its effect that anyone attempting to vividly depict its horrors must resort to the most extreme and unrealistic experiments imaginable. Showing footage of normal marijuana users using marijuana normally would be utterly boring and insignificant. Thus, the choice to approach the subject under such bizarre conditions tells you everything you actually need to know about the integrity of marijuana's critics.
2. Marijuana is so amazingly safe that this journalist can confidently inject its main ingredient straight into her veins. Do you think the BBC or the doctors involved in this mindless charade would have allowed this to proceed if there were any real danger? This whole trainwreck is really just a giant concession that marijuana is medically safe even in atypically massive doses.
Once again, we can count on marijuana reporting in the British press to be injected with everything but the truth.

What is England thinking?
"Do you think the BBC or the doctors involved in this mindless charade would have allowed this to proceed if there were any real danger?"
How could any responsible health care professional cast such a horrible experiment? The whole issue with legal cannabis should be with a doctor's recommendation, a prescription. For that matter, should any responsible doctor over-dose any drug on a person?
I envision a world where cannabis legalization is not handled like tobacco and alcohol, at the 'Convience Store.' But rather distributed under a doctor's supervision. For medical as well as recreational use. Who knows, maybe even legal tobacco and alcohol could learn something?
I saw it too!
I read that headline, I remember saying "WTF!?"
Of course no one will ever be so stupid to inject himself with THC, and it makes no sense because 100% THC is really hard to obtain, only scientists can do that. It's not like doing heroin, this is something you really need to work on, so it's an experiment of something NO ONE does.
Injecting THC
Too much!! The British confusion concerning marijuana begs comparisons to the reefer madness espoused by the DEA. Lest you doubt this assertion consider the British government's move to avoid closing mayhem by allowing bars to remain open on a twenty four hour basis. Clearly they have parked their car in the oncoming traffic lane.
dumb dumb dumb
Yet another classic example of how out of touch the media is on the issue of cannabis and its use. I've never personally seen or heard of marijuana abuse untile I read an article about this 'documentary.' This 'journalist' is going to experience what is commonly known as a backfire. I bet he/she has a very normal experience and may even enjoy it. There really seems to be an ultra-fine line between anti-pot propoganda and promotion of pot.
Amazing!
Sad experiment, but let her do it. It's amazing what someone will do to get their "15 minutes of fame". Unless she dies, the experiment will help solidify the argument that you cannot OD on cannabis.
To the person that would like to see all cannabis provided by a physician...I'm not seeing the sense in this at all. Doctors should focus on healing people, and IMO unless they are treating me for something and should know what I've consumed, it's none of their business what I put into my body.
To the person who does not think people will be stupid enough to do this...well this journalist is. People intentionally inhale gasoline for the high...how stupid is that? If someone is willing to huff gas, I don't see much stopping them from injecting THC...outside of it not being readily available...and perhaps a fear of needles. ;)
Peace
Baby I'm Amazed
WOW, the old saying stands true:
You give a Monkey a rope and she'll show Her Ass every time! Wake Up...
hmmmmm
Are British people really this stupid????
Injecting THC
Back in the day, when drug use was just beginning it's reawakening,I was lucky enough to acquire a hit of pure thc. There was nothing unpleasant or frightening about it and I'd gladly take this woman's place. She's just going to walk 6" off the ground for a few hours and feel really good.Won't make for much of a show.Unless it's some kind of pre-arranged scam where she performs for the camera. There's nothing scary about THC.
Why?
I remember shooting acid in the 60's but this don't make sense! I used to think the Brits where ahead of US in rational thinking but alas, over the past few years and their "skunk" scare tactics, they belong back in the 70's. Shooting THC? Dah!
Stolen from SNL
I Think, they saw the episode on Saturday Night Live in 1975, where Chevy Chase rolls a joint then tried to put it in his arm lol.
Where to Inject?
Maybe she'll inject herself in the eyeballs to show marijuana's harmful effects.
THC is NOT injectable!
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that THC is not injectable, since it's fat, not water soluble. This is why Marinol is available only in pill form.
It's Possible
THC tabs came out in the late 60s early 70s, although no one, as far as I know was injecting it. If it can be producted in tab form, then any good chemist should be able to break it down to the pure stuff.
It's Possible 2
There aready is a liquid form of THC used for glacoma patients in eye drops. So I really don't see a problem with finding any to inject. How much to inject is what worries me . To much and and the show is on, not enough, and no show ! They will obviously have to give her a good dose to pretend THC is a dangerous drug. if injecting THC starts to catch on we can all thank the BBC.
This is GREAT!!
Good for us! When prohibitionists rely on seventy-year-old "Reefer Madness" ploys, shockumentaries and tabloid "journalism" to argue their points while legitimate organizations like the American College of Physicians calmly explain that cannabis is virtually harmless, then perhaps more people will begin to see the light. This could be the acceleration of a cycle that will lead to the repeal of marijuana prohibition: as prohibitionists see less support for their position, their arguments and behavior become more blatantly grotesque, and this (combined with increasing awareness of the injustices afflicted upon the incarcerated) influences the populace to support prohibition less. It will probably be a long time before the human rights of cannabis users are restored in Western society and it will probably involve years of the widespread open display of raving lunatic prohibitionists juxtaposed with how much abuse and suffering is piled upon the victims of prohibition.
Shooters gallery for THC?
Happily I won't be exposed to this bit of video propaganda because I don't own a tv!
Cla
It already backfired.
It was a stunt recorded about a month ago which was going to be televised the day before the reclassification of cannabis to class B so it would look like the government was taking action fast. People found out about it beforehand and went a bit ballistic. Very quickly the government realized that people were not as stupid as they thought and released a statement stating that cannabis shall not be re classified until further studies. So no, the British are not that stupid, the British government thought they were.
Are British people really
Are British people really this stipid? It bears repeating...
Maybe they could learn a few things from bush.
Injecting Grass
I was busted in 1974 for 3 grams of cannabis result 2yrs probation. On my first visit to the probation office my PO opensd a copy of readers digest & quoting from it warned me 'of the dangers of injecting cannabis' so 34yrs on, no change there then.
injecting cannabis
im gunna try injecting it and will report the effects and ease or hasle it was doing it
i hope she shoots an air
i hope she shoots an air bubble. And then of course the media will say she OD on pot.......What a waste of time, what doesnt this woman focus on something that has some true meaning. This world we all live in sucks b/c of people like this.....grow the F#$% up and do something useful.
