2007 Ibogaine Forum

Come out to learn about ibogaine, an alkaloid drug isolated from the iboga plant of Gabon, West Africa. Its multi-faceted medicinal usage is powerful and has gained attention over the years for opioid/cocaine addiction, other addiction syndromes, and other conditions. It has been used traditionally for ritual by the Bwiti in West Africa for many years. However, ibogaine is an illegal Schedule I controlled substance in the United States because of its hallucinogenic effects (although it's not addictive and strongly aids in the conquering of addiction and has anti-viral properties). Opening session includes: Safety Considerations: Jeff Kamlet on where we are with ibogaine in 2007 and Dr. Ken Alper on the ratio of deaths to treatments in unregulated settings Mechanism of iboga alkaloids & Immune modulation: slideshow with Dana Beal & Ken Alper Howard Lotsof on ibogaine's anti-viral effects Lunch Regulatory and Congressional status of ibogaine with Brian Vastag Doctors meet para-clinicians: Clare Wilkins of the Ibogaine Association and Mexican M.D.s with Dimitri Mugianis, other para-clinicians, and Brian Murphy 7 PM reception @ 9 Bleecker $20 Suggested Donation (Free with Ticket from Columbia event) More info at (212) 677-7180 or dana@phantom.com
